Revision Date August 1 2019 A Background CAPI customers who are institutionalized may be eligible for CAPI See below for specific rules for institutionalized individuals Purpose This section is revised for the sunset review No Program rules have changed B Policy 1 Institutional Status Any person living in a public institution for example jail prison VA hospital for an entire month is ineligible for CAPI during that month The term public institution does not include a publicly operated community residence which serves 16 or fewer residents See the requirements for payments to other institutionalized recipients in 991053 and 991055 2 Incarceration A CAPI recipient who becomes incarcerated and is incarcerated on the first moment of the month will have InKind Support and Maintenance ISM charged for the month This charge is made regardless of release date whether on the first or any other day of the month Additionally benefits are prorated for the month of release Section 991055 describes budgeting for this purpose C Procedure None Other Program Impacts None References MPP 4901021 Sunset Date This policy will be reviewed for continuance by 08312022 Approval for Release Rick Wanne Director Eligibility Operations
